Caring properly for a sublimated jersey means extending its lifespan and preserving the vibrancy of its colours. Flare Custom, a European brand of custom sportswear made in Bulgaria (EU), shares the right habits here to keep your pieces like new, wash after wash. Since the sublimation is embedded in the fibre, care is simple — a few precautions are enough. Here's how to wash and care for your sublimated kit.
Choose a low-temperature machine wash on a gentle cycle with a standard detergent. Wash the jersey inside out to limit rubbing on the visible surface, and close any zips or fastenings. Avoid very hot water, which adds nothing on polyester and puts needless strain on the fabric. A low-temperature wash is enough to clean sportswear effectively.
Avoid bleach and harsh products, which can damage the fabric, as well as excess fabric softener, which can clog technical fibres and reduce breathability. Sublimation needs no special treatment: gentle, standard care is the best ally of longevity.
Let it air dry, away from direct sunlight and intense heat sources. Avoid the tumble dryer at high temperature, which strains technical fibres. Polyester dries quickly in the open air, which makes natural drying simple and effective. Hang the jersey so it keeps its shape.
It's best to avoid ironing the printed surface directly. Polyester needs little ironing anyway, as it barely creases. If necessary, use a low-temperature iron, without pressing on the design, ideally through a cloth. As a rule, careful drying is enough to avoid ironing altogether.
By combining these good habits: wash at a low temperature, inside out, no bleach, air-dry away from direct sun. Sublimated colours then keep their brightness for a very long time. Sublimation does not flake, but suitable care remains the best guarantee of a kit that still looks good season after season. See durability.
