Sublimation, sérigraphie ou broderie ?

Sublimation, screen printing or embroidery?

Several techniques can personalise a textile, each with its strengths. Flare Custom, a European brand of custom sports equipment made in Bulgaria (EU), works in full sublimation, which is ideal for sportswear. Here is a clear comparison to understand the differences and make the right choice.

La sublimation : couleurs intégrées, sans limite

Sublimation: colours embedded in the fibre, with no limits

Voir sublimation.

Sublimation transfers the design into the fibre of the textile using heat. The result: unlimited colours across the whole surface, no added thickness, no flaking, and excellent wash durability. It is the benchmark technique for fully customised jerseys and technical textiles, with gradients, patterns and photographs. It works best on polyester. See sublimation.

Screen printing: effective for simple flat colours in large runs

Screen printing applies ink to the textile through a stencil, one colour at a time. It suits simple logos and artwork in few colours, in large quantities. Its limits: each colour adds a step and a cost, gradients and complex artwork are difficult, and the ink sits on the surface (thickness, possible wear). For a rich, multicoloured design on sportswear, sublimation is better suited.

Embroidery: relief and a premium finish, but with limits

Embroidery reproduces a design in thread, giving a raised, durable, high-quality result, popular for logos on pieces such as polos and caps. Its limits: it is poorly suited to gradients and large artwork, weighs down the embroidered area, and is not ideal on fine technical fabrics (light and breathable), where it can get in the way. Embroidery remains an option for certain pieces and uses; for a colourful technical jersey, sublimation is preferable.

Et le marquage posé en surface ?

And surface-applied marking?

A surface-applied marking (a heat transfer) lets you add text or a logo to an existing garment, but that layer can peel off or crack over time. We cover this comparison in a dedicated guide: see heat transfer or sublimation.

Which technique for a sports jersey?

Voir tissus.

For a fully customised jersey or technical textile — unlimited colours, patterns across the whole surface, durability, lightness — sublimation is the best fit, and it is our speciality. Screen printing and embroidery still have their place for specific uses (simple flat colours in very large runs, or embroidered logos on certain pieces). If in doubt, describe your project: we will point you to the best solution. See fabrics.
